MCI sanctions 174 additional MBBS seats under EWS category in Assam

The Medical Council of India (MCI) has sanctioned an additional number of 174 MBBS seats in six medical colleges in the State, Assam Finance and Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said Friday. The total number of available seats will thus increase to 900, he further stated in a tweet.

“Happy to share~Medical Council of India has sanctioned 174 additional #MBBS seats under Economically Weaker Section quota for 6 medical colleges of Assam, taking total available seats to 900. Will address aspirations of many who wish to pursue medicine. Grateful @drharshvardhan,” Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote on twitter.

Expressing his gratitude to union Health Minister Dr Harshvardhan, the Assam Health Minister stated that the central government’s move to increase the number of MBBS seats in medical colleges in the State will benefit students who wish to take up medicine as a profession.
