Superstar Shah Rukh Khan today launched a new set of awards - the Times of India Film Awards (TOIFA) that would honour and recognise excellence in Hindi cinema.
"I am happy and fortunate to be here to launch this. We want to put India on the global platform. We want to put our best foot forward. It is a great platform," Shah Rukh Khan told reporters here.
"I think awards are a great representation of our hard work and effort that we put in to entertain our audiences," he said.
In its first year, TOIFA will be held hold in Vancouver, Canada from April 4 to 6 this year.
"I have been to Vancouver while I was shooting for 'Pardes' and I had great time there. It is an amazing city and a film-friendly place," Shah Rukh said.
The 46-year-old actor said he would be performing at the awards. "I would be performing at the awards on different songs. I would be meeting Shiamak Davar and discuss as to how we will go ahead with the performance. It will be a big, big item at TOIFA," he said.
The award show will be hosted by Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma this year.
