Minister for DoNER Pawan Singh Ghatowar has announced cash award of Rs 5 lakhs each for all the participants of the recently held London Olympic Games 2012 from the North Eastern States and Rs 40 lakhs to MC Mary Kom for winning the Bronze in Boxing. This was announced in acknowledgement of the dedication and hard work put in by the sports persons. It is believed and hope that this kind of awards and acknowledgements we go a long way in boosting the morale of the spots persons and further encourage budding sports activists and players.
The Minister for DoNER will be visiting Manipur from September 15 to 17 next. He will review the projects funded by NEC and DoNER in Manipur, visit land custom station in Moreh, inaugurate the seminar on Policies and Problems of Sports in the Northeast being organized by the Manipur Olympic Association.
Felicitation programme of Olympic Games participants will also be held which will be attended to by the Members of Parliament from Manipur, Chief Minister of Manipur, other Ministers, NEC Secretary U.K Sangma and various other officials from the North Eastern States and the Ministry of DoNER and North Eastern Council.
