Assam singing superstar Zubeen Garg has once again favoured death penalty for rapists and molesters, claiming that those found guilty of rape and molestation should be hanged in public or shot dead.
Zubeen, who has been keeping newsmen busy with his comments on various issues while performing in Rongali Bihu functions, once again reacted to growing crimes against women and children, favouring capital punishment, that too hanging or shooting dead rapists and molesters in public.
“There has been a rise in rape and molestation cases against girls and women. It’s really very sad. I believe they should be shot dead. That’s the only punishment for them,” Zubeen Garg said while performing at a Bihu function in the Eastern Assam town of Naharkatia on Tuesday night.
He also spoke on the need for stricter laws and speedier trials so that the guilty can be punished in the quickest possible time.
The singing superstar has been sending one message after another while performing in the Bihu stage. From asking youngsters to wear helmets while driving and riding two-wheelers to making a clarion call to people to grow more trees, Zubeen has also been campaigning for his new film ‘Kanchenjunga’.
