No ambulance could make it to the village due to dilapidated condition of roads in MLA Dutta’s constituency. Payeng was brought on a cockboat to the hospital in Garhmur for treatment, when he passed away.
It should be noted that Sashidhar Payeng’s son, Sunil Kumar Payeng, also faced the same fate two months ago. Earlier, two more ladies from the same Luitkhabolu village have given birth to their babies on the roads after failing to reach hospitals on time.
Meanwhile, people have condemned the incident and demanded immediate construction of road in the village. They have questioned local MLA Utpal Dutta about his negligence towards the requirements of the villagers.
