Who will succeed Kuladhar Saikia as new Assam DGP?

Guwahati: Immense speculations as to who will be the next Director General of Police (DGP) of Assam with Kuladhar Saikia, the current Assam Police chief, has only three days left for his retirement. He will retire on Nov 30.

Confusion of sorts persists over the name of Assam’s new DGP. According to reports, the state government has sent names of five DGP rank officials to the UPSC for the post of DGP, Assam.  They are NK Sinha, Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, KB Singh Deu, BK Mishra and Mukesh Agarwal.

The State Government will appoint one of the five names recommended by the UPSC as the successor of Kuladhar Saikia.

The appointment will be made in accordance with the Supreme Court guidelines that one should hold the post of DGP for at least 2 years.

At the same time Assam Chief Secretary Alok Kumar is also set to retire on 31st December, 2019. The state government has also recommended some names for the post of chief secretary but talks of extension for Alok kumar is on the table too.
