Assam: Train with 2000 passengers from Kerala arrives in Guwahati

Guwahati: Amid Coronavirus outbreak, Arunai Express from Kerala finally arrived in Guwahati on Friday morning.
 
Around 2000 passengers who have returned from Kerala have been screened thoroughly at the Guwahati Railway Station and are placed under surveillance.
 
The passengers who returned to Assam are either students or job holders who work in Kerala for their livelihood.
 
“Many people from Kerala have returned due to Coronavirus. I am from Nagaon and I work as a cook at a hotel in Kerala. The owners have paid me my salary and have asked us to leave immediately so we decided to come back to Assam,” said a youth.
 
Another passenger who returned from Kerala said, “I work in a hotel named Sadar. Though the hotel is not yet closed but the owner has paid my daily wages and has asked me to return to my hometown Sivasagar.”
 
Youths from different parts of Assam were residing in Kerala engaged in various occupations and have returned due to the Coronavirus scare.
 
The Guwahati Railway Station has set up an Isolation ward to quarantine suspected people.
