GUWAHATI: Taking a clear dig of the political ambitions of AASU in Assam, Health and Finance Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that if an alternative party is formed, the BJP will go on to win as many as 101 seats in the 2021 Assembly polls.
“If AASU forms a political party then we may win 101 seats and not 100. It will be an additional one seat for us,” said the senior BJP leader here in Guwahati.
“We welcome the announcement made by AASU’s president and secretary that they are going to form a political party. We will take that political party head-on and we will prove that the people of Assam are with Narendra Modi and the BJP,” said Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.
“In 1985, also, some people signed Assam Accord only to become minister. This time, too, same drama is being repeated. People of Assam are matured now. They will not accept this kind of harakiri,” said Dr. Sarma.
