Fifteen-day workshop on Bihu musical instruments at Kaziranga

Guwahati: With Bohag Bihu just one-and-a-half month away, Kaziranga is reverberating with the beats of Bihu dhol and other instruments.

To imbibe the nuances of Bihu to the upcoming generation, a fifteen-day long workshop on Bihu instruments have been organized in Kaziranga by Sanskritik Nabajagarn Abhiyan Samaj under the Chief Minister Samagra Gramya Unnayan Yojana scheme along with the Kaziranga Press Club.

The workshop is held under the aegis of ‘Dhol Ojha’ Somnath Bora. Youths from the region will participate in the workshop and get formal training from the ‘Dho Ojha’ himself.

For ‘Dhol Ojha’ Somnath Bora the workshop means bringing up new talents, mainly female Dhol players from the region who can represent the culture globally. It’s a dream come true for Bora to see female Dhol players playing Dhol internationally. With this dream and aspiration Somnath Bora has been providing formal training on Dhol playing to females all over Assam.
