Martyr Durga Malla’s statue vandalised in West Karbi Anglong

GUWAHATI: Statue of Martyr Durga Malla was found vandalised in West Karbi Anglong on Wednesday. Part of the statue was broken by some unidentified miscreants.

Durga Malla was the first Lt. Colonel of Azad Hind Fauj during the pre-independence movement.

The statue was installed in Bithung Rengthama, West Karbi Anglong. The incident of vandalizing the statue was condemned by the locals.

According to the locals, the miscreants broke the right hand of the statue and took away the Khukuri (dagger) that was installed in the hand. It was in the morning when they found out about this vandalisation.

On the basis of the statement given by the locals a complaint has been lodged by the West Karbi Anglong Police and investigation is underway.
