Nagaon boy designs gamosa on phone covers

PUBLISHED:

Guwahati: Gamosa is one of the easiest recognizable cultural symbols for the people Assam. It is popular and has been used in various ways signifying its importance.

Showcasing the patterns of a gamosa through a new medium, Puskarjyoti Nath from Morigaon district has come up with an initiative by engraving the design of Assamese Gamosa on mobile phone covers.

According to Puskarjyoti, this will help enhance the Assamese culture and make people aware about Assam globally. Puskar is operating his business from Nagaon.

The mobile covers designed by Puskarjyoti are of unique style, engraved with red border line and flowers, typical of an Assamese Gamosa. The cover has kept the intact look of the Gamosa.

People from different parts of India have already started ordering the mobile covers for its look and cultural significance.

Gamosa is usually gifted to someone as a mark of respect and acknowledgement. Though there may be many prevalent designs, it is generally a white, rectangular, piece of cotton cloth with primarily a red border on three sides and red woven motifs on the fourth (in addition to red, other colours are also used).  And now, this symbol of Assamese culture is easily accessible to all the mobile phone users, too.
