GUWAHATI, Jan 10: Karimganj Police have arrested three persons for allegedly gangraping a teenaged girl in Kaliganj areas of Karimganj and later murdering her.
The police arrested Faizul Miya, Saddam Hussain and Ajmal Hussain after the body of the 18-year-old victim was recovered from the Kakra river.
Police also recovered a Tata Sumo bearing registration number MZ-06-1481 from the arrested trio.
The victim’s father, incidentally, had filed a missing complaint at Kaliganj police outpost on Jan 3 after his 18 year-old daughter went missing on Dec 30.
On Jan 5, the victim’s body which was packed in a gunny bag was recovered from Kakra river. The postmortem report confirmed that the girl was raped before being murdered.
Police said the girl was lured by Faizul Miya on the pretext of marriage. Miya along with Saddam Hussain and Ajmal Hussain then gangraped her prior to murdering the young girl. They later packed the body in a gunny bag and threw it in the river.
Karimganj Police have registered a case and are interrogating the trio for further details.
