Two college students killed, siblings among four injured in separate road mishaps in Tezpur

GUWAHATI, Jan 5: Two college students were killed and four others injured in separate road mishaps in and around Tezpur town in the past 12 hours.

Pallab Saikia of Bamparbatia, Tezpur, was killed after his motor-cycle (AS-12G-6855) met with an accident with a scooter (AS-12X-4086) in Murhateteli area of the Tezpur Saturday night.

Two pedestrians were also seriously injured in the mishap. One of them, later identified as Tinku Deka, was shifted to Guwahati for better treatment.

On the other hand, a female student of Tezpur College was killed while her two sisters injured after they were hit by a pick-up van at the Kaliabhomora bridge on the outskirts of Tezpur town Sunday morning.

Anjali Rai, the deceased, was part of an NCC group cycling to Kaziranga from Darrang College. A student of Tezpur College, she was hit by the pick-up van, apparently due to low visibility.

While Anjali succumbed to her injuries, her sisters, Khusboo and Priyanka, were seriously injured and were rushed to the nearest hospital.
