Guwahati: The 65th Amazon Filmfare Awards 2020 was a star-studded night held at the Sarusajai Stadium, Guwahati. Among the many new, dynamic performers who were present at the mega event, one actor we want to talk about is Bhumi Pednekar.

Bhumi Pendekar has managed to carve a niche for herself in the Mumbai film industry. She debuted opposite Ayushmann Khuranna in ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’ in 2015 and after that it’s no looking back for her.

For Bhumi, the Filmfare Awards night was all about dreams coming true.  For her portrayal of the septuagenarian sharpshooter Chandro Tomar in Saand Ki Aankh (2019) she won the 65th Amazon Filmfare Awards 2020 Critics Award for Best Actress.

Bhumi received the award from the energetic Ranveer Singh and gorgeous Alia Bhatt. While announcing her name Ranveer took everyone down the memory lane. He mentioned that because of Bhumi he is now a part of this industry today.

The story behind is, Bhumi, who is now among one of the finest actors in Bollywood, had not joined the industry with an intention to act. For around six years she worked behind the camera an assistant to casting director Shanoo Sharma in Yash Raj Films.

Back then, Ranveer Singh auditioned for his first movie ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’ where Bhumi was the assistant director.

In many of her interviews Bhumi mentions auditioning Ranveer Singh and reveals that she was intimidated by the ‘Guly Boy’ actor. Emphasising on his energy level that remains unchanged, Bhumi confirmed that Ranveer’s audition was the most exciting one and he owned it even back then.

The 65th Amazon Filmfare Awards 2020, a star-studded event, was hosted by Karan Johar, Vicky Kaushal and Varun Dhawan on 15 February.
