9th Brahmaputra Beach Carnival starts in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: The three-day-long Brahmaputra Beach Carnival kicked off on Friday in Guwahati with the aim of a clean riverbank.

Organized every year by the Assam government in January the festival’s objective is to promote tourism. The open-air carnival of the Brahmaputra Beach Carnival that is held on the sandy banks of the mighty Brahmaputra is a unique event. The event is in its 9th year. Elephant races, kite flying, adventure sports activities, cultural shows etc. are organised on the occasion. 

The main attraction of this carnival is the Jeevan Kite River Festival, organized by the Jeevan initiative on the banks of river Brahmaputra in Guwahati.  The festival starts at 11 AM and continues till 9 PM.

The festival has all the feels of an international kite-flying event as tourists and enthusiasts from Thailand, America and other places have already arrived in Guwahati.

The carnival will also have cultural nights with performances by eminent artistes, including Tarali Sarma, Babu, Rupam Bhuyan, Arohan Bordoloi and many others.
