GUWAHATI, SEP 15: A devastating fire gutted four shops at Jayanagar in Beltola locality of Guwahati this afternoon. The fire, believed to have started from a short circuit, reduced a fast food outlet, two shops selling stationary goods and another a Xerox kiosk to ash.
Fire tenders were called after the inferno started spreading. Firemen battled hard and were finally able to douse the flames.
Police teams also arrived at the spot and, along with the firemen, helped the blaze from engulfing nearby business establishments.
Initial estimates suggest property worth many lakh were reduced to ash in the blaze.
No casualties or injured have been reported.
