Guwahati: Construction work starts for Dispur Supermarket flyover

PUBLISHED:

GUWAHATI: To ease the mounting pressure of vehicles passing through the ‘Gateway to the Northeast’, the construction work for the double lane flyover connecting Khanapara, Dispur Supermarket and Last Gate has finally started in Guwahati on Thursday.

The flyover will start in front of Janata Bhawan (Assam Secretariat) at Dispur and end at the Down Town police point. The 1.4 km-long flyover will be built at an approximate cost of Rs 127.20 crore and construction will be completed in two years.

The authorities have already set up alternative routes for the commuters. Those coming from Khanapara have already started taking the Pratima Pandey Baruah road as an alternate route.

Meanwhile, the PWD has already put up signage of ‘Roads closed’ and ‘Diversion roads’ for the passengers for hassle-free communication. Machineries such as Road Rollers, Crawler Excavator, and Motor Grader etc are already seen near the construction site.

Most of the work will take place at night so that the commuters can easily travel and avoid traffic congestion.
