Guwahati to host 6 matches of 2020 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup

GUWAHATI: Guwahati is among the five Indian cities that will host the 2020 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup that will start from 2nd November.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju announced the good news on twitter.

A total of 16 teams will compete across 32 matches to lift the trophy.

Happy to inform you all that Guwahati will be hosting 6 matches of the upcoming FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2020 to be held in November this year,” Assam CM, Sarbananda Sonowal tweeted.

Five cities will host the match in India and the match schedule has been released. The cities where the match has been scheduled are Ahmedabad, Bhubneswar, Guwahati, Kolkata and Navi Mumbai.

“It’s time to Kick Off The Dream!
A big moment for India and Indian sports as the 5 host cities and match schedule have just been unveiled for November’s #U17WWC 2020 in India,” Kiren Rijiju said in twitter.

The key dates for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup India 2020 include:

Opening match – 2 November
Quarter-finals – 12 and 13 November
Semi-finals – 17 November
3rd/4th-place play-off & final – 21 November

Navi Mumbai will host the final match of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup on November 21.

The official slogan – ‘Kick Off The Dream’ – was also unveiled at a press conference in New Delhi.
