Leopard caged in Guwahati city

Guwahati: A male leopard which was on the prowl in and around PNGB Road in Shantipur, Guwahati, since the past 7-8 months was finally caged by forest authorities on the wee hours of Wednesday.

The forest officials had put a trap for the leopards by tying a goat into the cage by luring him into it.

On Tuesday night the leopard created terror among the residents of Shantipur and the visuals were captured in CCTV footage.

 According to a local, “there are 4 leopards out of which one is caught and the rest must be caught immediately. The leopards have created panic among us for the past 7 to 8 months and we can’t step outside after midnight. They have already eaten all the stray dogs and cats of our area.”

The leopard was later taken to the Assam State Zoo.
