GUWAHATI: A gang of thieves broke into a hardware shop,”K D ENTERPRISE” located on VIP road, Chachal on Saturday at around 01:00 AM and decamped with items worth Rs. 12 lakh.
The incident came to light when the employees reached the shop on Saturday morning and saw the shutters broken. On checking, they found that items worth around Rs. 11-12 lakh were missing and CCTV cameras of the premise were broken.
The owner of the shop said that the entire incident was captured in their shop’s CCTV camera.
“They broke the cameras in my shop and took the Internet router thinking it to be the CCTV DVR. So we got the overall footage of the incident and came to know how they did the robbery. Meanwhile, I have registered an FIR at the Dispur Police Station,” said the owner of the shop in a telephonic conversation.
As per the owner, the thieves targeted only the costlier items and left the cheaper ones.
The CCTV footage revealed that two thieves who came in a vehicle first broke the camera installed outside the shop and then broke the shutter of the shop. Later both thieves with covered faces entered the shop and stole the items.
Meanwhile, Dispur Police is investigating the matter.
