5 Bangladeshis arrested for trying to illegally enter India

Kolkata: Five Bangladeshis have been arrested from North 24 Parganas district while trying to illegally crossover to India, Border Security Force (BSF) officials said on Wednesday.

A patrol party intercepted and arrested the five Bangladeshi nationals in two separate incidents from Ghojadanga and Tarali area of the district on Tuesday night, a BSF statement said.

“During preliminary questioning, these illegal intruders revealed that they came into India with the help of Bangladeshi touts,” BSF sources said.

The arrested persons have been handed over to respective police stations for further legal action, the statement said.

In another incident, four Indians were arrested while trying to illegally sneak into the country from Bangladesh, from Rajnagar and Gojadanaga area of the district on Tuesday night, the officials said.

So far in 2019, BSF troops of South Bengal Frontier have apprehended 278 Indian and 1,214 Bangladeshi nationals for trying to illegally cross the international border. (PTI)
