News about BSNL closure is baseless: CGM BSNL Assam

Guwahati: BSNL has come out with a clarification on the recent news stories that have been doing the rounds in the media.

Sandeep Govil, Chief General Manager, BSNL Assam has intimated that the recent media reports published in some newspapers and also circulating through electronic and social media platforms regarding recommendations of Finance Ministry GOI for closure of BSNL is completely baseless and untrue.

Through a press release and a press meet BSNL has stated that the news reports about BSNL closure published on 9th and 10th October in various media platforms as untrue. BSNL has requested the public and the media not to pay attention to any rumours spread by unverified sources with vested interests.

According to the release there is a plan under active consideration for revival of BSNL by the government of India by giving suitable package in terms of VRS/4G spectrum and allowing monetisation of assets available with BSNL. Moreover, the UIDAI has recently designated BSNL Customer Service Centers as AADHAAR Seva Kendra for Aadhaar enrollment throughout the country.
