18 hour Manipur Bandh by MANPAC

PUBLISHED:

Manipur: The Manipur People Against Citizenship (Amendment) Bill (MANPAC) has announced an 18-hour Manipur bandh on November 19 till 6 pm of Tuesday.

The call for shutdown came after the Central Governments reported agenda to pass the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Bill (CAB) in the ensuing Winter Session of the Parliament.

Announcing a series of protests against CAB under the aegis of North East Forum for Indigenous People (NEFIP), MANPAC called a statewide shutdown.

NEFIP president Ningthouja Lancha at a press conference alleged that the Prime Minister of India is yet to give his reply to the memorandums submitted by over 250 civil society organisations from across the Northeast states under NEFIP to him through the Governors of NE states.

The NEFIP president then termed CAB as “genocidal act” while reiterating that NEFIP will stand firm against the bill.
