Congress candidate resumes campaign after attack

PUBLISHED:

Anil Borgohain, Congress candidate for Lakhimpur Lok Sabha constituency whose car was attacked at Jonai Friday (April 5) night, has resumed campaigning after he was discharged from hospital.

The Congress candidate, who is pitted against sitting BJP MP Pradan Baruah, addressed party workers at Garmur in Majuli today (April 6).

“My car was attacked by miscreants at Jonai after I was returning from a meeting. We have filed an FIR with police,” Borgohain said in Majuli, saying it’s up to the police to find who his attackers were.

Borgohain was first taken to the Assam Medical College Hospital (AMCH) and then admitted to a private nursing home in Dibrugarh after the miscreants pelted stones at his car last night. He was later discharged after medical tests confirmed he was fit and fine. He resumed campaigning today.
