Qamer alias Qamrul was brought to Assam by a team of Uttar Pradesh police and is currently being questioned by Assam Police at Hojai Police Station, basically relating to his activities with regards to spreading the Hizbul network in Assam.

Incidentally, Assam Police had arrested eight accomplices of Qamer-uz-Zaman from different places in Assam after the latter fell into the net of Uttar Pradesh Police on Sep 13 at Kanpur on charges of planning to carry out terror strikes in the town during Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations.

Shahnawaz (Shah) Alom, Saiful Islam alias Liton who happens to be Qamer’s brother, Saidul Alom, Baharuddin and Joynaluddin were arrested from Jamunamukh, Omar Farooq — another associate of the Hizbul terrorist — was arrested from Byrnihat in Meghalaya.
