Illegal poppy plantations destroyed in Manipur’s Churachandpur

GUWAHATI: The Zomi Youth Association, in collaboration with the Churachandpur district administration, District Police, Assam Rifles and a team of Narcotics and Affairs of Border, destroyed around 10 acres of the illegal poppy plantation at two separate sites in the southern part of Manipur’s Churachandpur district bordering Myanmar on Tuesday.

The combined team divided into two teams destroyed Poppy plantations at two sites, one at Lungthul village and the other at Kangkap village in Churachandpur.

According to reports the plantations were owned by around fifteen households.

ASI of the Narcotic and Affairs of Border, Hitler Meitei mentioned that around 10 acres of poppy plantations were destroyed.
