Molestation case against union minister Rajen Gohain

Union Minister Rajen Gohain has been booked for allegedly molesting a woman. Nagaon Police have registered a case against the Railway MoS (Case No. 2592/18) under sections 417, 376 and 506 of IPC following an FIR lodged against him by a woman at Nagaon Sadar Police Station on August 2.

“A case has been registered at Nagaon Police Station against Union Minister Rajen Gohain (Case No. 2592/18) under sections 417, 376 and 506 IPC on Aug 2. After the registration of the cases, all actions have been taken legally. We have recorded the statement of the complainant and her medical examination has also been conducted,” Nagaon SP Shankar Brata Raimedhi said.

He, however, added that the complainant has now written to the police stating that she wants to withdraw the case and not continue with it any further.

“Although she has written to us claiming that she does not want to go ahead with the case, we are proceeding with it legally and as per provisions of law. We are investigating the matter,” Raimedhi further said.

Shankar Brata Raimedhi further claimed that they will interrogate the union minister, who is also the Lok Sabha MP from Nagaon, if the need arises.
