APSC Scam | Four more arrested officials get bail

The Gauhati High Court Wednesday granted bail to four more ACS, APS and allied service officials who were arrested last year in connection with the APSC cash-for-job scam. The court of Rumi Kumari Phukan granted bail to the four arrested officials. With this, the total number of arrested officials granted bail rose to 21.

Hemanta Hillol Saikia, Jyotirmoy Adhikari, Jatindra Prasad Baruah and Debajit Bora were granted bail by Gauhati High Court today.

The court had on Monday granted bail to Himangshu Choudhury, Kamal Debnath, Aniruddha Roy, Raju Sahu and Jayanta Nath while reserving its order on the bail pleas of three other arrested accused — Nishamoni Deka, Joydev Mahanta and Pallabi Sarma Choudhury — till Thursday (Oct 11).

Twelve other arrested ACS and APS officials, accused of bribing and influencing commission members to get jobs, were granted bail by Gauhati High Court last week.

Arrested ACS officers Badrul Islam, Dipak Khanikar, Sunaina Aideu, Sudipta Goswami, Gitali Doley and Rumi Saikia and APS officers Kunal Das, Sabira Imran and Dilip Kumar Kalita were granted bail by Gauhati High Court on Oct 4 with the court imposing several conditions besides slapping bail bonds of Rs 1 lakh for each arrested accused who were in jail for over a year.
