Hizbul Crackdown: Three more picked-up from Kachua, Jamunamukh

PUBLISHED:

Police have intensified the crackdown on Pakistani terrorist outfit Hizbul Mujahideen’s network in Assam following the arrest of Hizbul terrorist Qamer-uz-Zaman in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. Police have picked up three more people — one from Kachua in Nagaon district and two others from Jamunamukh — for questioning for allegedly maintaining links with Qamer.

While Riyazuddin was detained from Kachua, Baharuddin and Joynaluddin were picked-up by Hojai Police from Jamunamukh.

Police sources said Qamer had stayed at Riyazuddin’s house when he visited Assam in August this year besides also using his motorcycle.

Assam police have so far arrested four people for maintaining links with Qamer and reportedly extending him their support to expand the terror network in Assam.

While Shahnawaz (Shah) Alom, Saiful Islam alias Liton and Saidul Alom were arrested from Jamunamukh, Omar Farooq — another associate of the arrested Hizbul terrorist — was arrested from Byrnihat in Meghalaya.

The crackdown on the Hizbul network in Assam was launched after Uttar Pradesh ATS arrested Qamer-uz-Zaman, who hails from Jamunamukh and had joined the Pakistani terrorist organization, from Kanpur on charges of planning to carry out terror attacks during Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations.
