In a fresh development in the alleged rape of a woman by an Assam legislator, Azara police arrested the victim’s husband from the Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi international airport Saturday night.
The victim’s husband was arrested by a team of cops while he was trying to flee to Mumbai, a day after his wife accused AIUDF MLA from Algapur, Nizam Uddin Choudhury, of raping her in the presence of her husband at Hailakandi circuit house.
The victim had filed a police complaint at Hailakandi Sadar Police Station in which she accused the AIUDF MLA of raping her in May this year. Police had registered a case on the basis of her complaint.
