Guwahati: Elaborate security arrangements have been made for the upcoming T20 International Cricket match between India and Sri Lanka on January 5 at Barsapara stadium in Guwahati.
Addressing a press meet, city police commissioner Munna Prasad Gupta said that only mobile phones and wallets would be allowed in the stadium. The public has been asked not to carry items such as laptops, cameras, banners, water bottles, cigarettes, electronic items (except mobile phones), matchboxes, lighters, metal objects, binoculars, coins, pens, batteries, helmets, perfumes, bags and eatables purchased outside. The city police have requested the public to reach the stadium by 4 PM as the gates of the stadium will open at 4 P.M on January 5.
According to Assam Cricket Association General Secretary Debajit Saikia that the stadium has a seating capacity of 39,000 and 27 thousand tickets have already been sold out for the much-awaited match and hope that the stadium will be occupied by the enthusiastic and cricket lovers on the day of the match.
Ahead of the T20 match against Sri Lanka, Kohli and Co. wasted no time in trying out new elements during their practice session which has already started around 5 P.M and will last till 7 P.M. The Indian players are seen doing the usual short sprint stuff simultaneously.
The Indian Cricket team coach Ravi Shastri was seen surveying the pitch.
On the other hand, from 4th January, the Indian Cricket will start their practice sessions from 11 A.M and will practice till 2 P.M.
Both the teams have been accommodated in Radisson Blu Hotel Guwahati.
