GUWAHATI: “We have a huge pendency of cases in the crime front across Assam. Only in Dispur Police Station, nearly 11 thousand cases are pending,” said director general of Assam Police Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta.
In an exclusive interview with Northeast Live editor-in-chief Wasbir Hussain, DGP Mahanta said, “Dispur Police Station has the highest number of pending cases. Huge pendency of cases needs to be addressed on a priority basis in order to ensure justice. People come with expectations to the police station.”
Speaking on the law and order situation in the state, DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta said that the safety of women and children, drug trafficking, cyber crimes are major challenges for Assam Police.
