GUWAHATI: Olympic qualifier Assam boxer Lovlina Borgohain has come forward to help the poor and needy amid COVID19 crisis and 21-day nationwide lockdown. The 22-year-old boxer distributed food packets and ration in her locality under Golaghat district of Assam.
Lovlina herself made 250 packets of fruits, vegetables and dry ration to distribute among the needy people in Barpathar area. Lovlina was seen distributing the food packets.
Earlier on Sunday, responding to prime minister Narendra Modi’s ‘9 PM, 9 minutes’ call, Lovlina was seen lighting diyas at her home.
On the other hand, the international boxer also contributed Rs. 35,001 to Assam Arogya Nidhi to support the state government’s fight against COVID19.

Lovline, born on Ocober 2, 1997 in Golaghat district took up Muay Thai at the age of just 13. A fortunate encounter with renowned Indian boxing coach Padum Boro, who spotted the talent during a Sports Authority of India boxing trial steered her to amateur boxing.
Under the steady tutelage of Padum Boro, and later by Chief Women’s Coach Shiv Singh, boxer Lovlina Borgohain’s training finally bore fruit in 2017.
Dictating the tempo in all three rounds of her Olympic qualifiers’ quarter-final bout against Uzbekistan’s Maftunakhon Melieva, Assam’s pugilist Lovlina Borgohain represented India successfully, beating her women’s welterweight 69 kg category opponent by unanimous decision.
