Assam: Herd of wild elephants creates mayhem in Lanka

GUWAHATI: A herd of wild elephants created mayhem at Manduli village in Lanka under Hojai district on Saturday night.

The elephants razed houses of five families in the village. The herd of jumbos also destroyed food of the villagers.
“The herd of elephants entered the village in night. Our houses and utensils have been damaged,” said a woman.

Meanwhile, a number of villagers somehow escaped from the pachyderms which turned violent.
