Coronavirus: Assam man who fled from Kerala quarantine facility held at New Bongaigaon Junction

GUWAHATI: The Assam man who fled from quarantine facility in Kerala on March 16 was held at New Bongaigaon Junction in Assam in the early Thursday morning.

The suspected Coronavirus infected man from Morigaon district of Middle Assam was travelling home by train after fleeing from the quarantine facility in the southern state.

Railway Protection Force of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) traced and held the man from 13175 Kanchanjungha Express at New Bongaigaon Junction and shifted to isolation ward of railway hospital.

“He is being quarantined. Our medical team is examining him constantly,” said NFR Public Relations Officer (PRO) Nripen Bhattacharyya over phone.

Bhattacharyya also informed News Live that a medical team was keeping strong vigil at New Bongaigaon Junction.

Along with him two other suspected Coronavirus infected men, who was quarantined by Kerala health authorities at a hotel in Kozikhod, fled from the quarantine facility on March 16. The two other men are from Odisha and West Bengal.
