Assam: Newborn abandoned near Shani Mandir in Duliajan

GUWAHATI: A newborn baby was rescued on Saturday morning in Duliajan. The infant was abandoned near a pond adjacent to a Shani Mandir in Duliajan.

Momi Gogoi, a beggar sitting near the Temple gate noticed the newborn and wrapped the baby with a cloth. She then handed the baby to Dipa Pal who was on her morning walk schedule. Dipa rushed the infant to Duliajan Oil Hospital where the newborn is currently undergoing treatment. The baby is kept in ICU and is under the special observation of child specialist Dr. Ajay Kumar Sarma.

Dr. Ajay Kumar Sarma said that the newborn will be kept under observation for the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, Duliajan Police was informed and a team visited the hospital to gather more information. The police have informed Dibrugarh Child Line and investigations are underway.
