GUWAHATI: Bodoland Day is being celebrated today in Bodo Territorial Region to mark the signing of second Bodo Peace Accord which paved the way for formation of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC).
The memorandum of settlement (MoS) was signed between the Centre, state governments and leaders of Bodoland Liberation Tiger (BLT) on February 10, 2003.
On the occasion of 18th Bodoland day, BTC administration has declared a government holiday today for all the offices of the entrusted departments of BTC.
The holiday includes educational institutions under BTR.
In the morning today, BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary and Assam minister Pramilarani Brahma paid tribute to the martyrs of Bodo movement at Bodoland Cemetery, Debargaon, Kokrajhar.
On the other hand, Hagrama Mohilary along with Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary, minister Chandan Brahma paid their homage to Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma at BTC secretariat.
