CM Sonowal inaugurates Kokrajhar Planetarium

GUWAHATI: Assam chief minister Sarbanada Sonowal today inaugurated Kokrajhar Planetarium and Science Centre at Kokrajhar.

Inaugurating the planetarium, CM Sonowal expressed hope that it will play pivotal role to inculcate scientific temperament among the masses. 

Along with Sonowal, the inaugural ceremony was attended by minister Keshab Mahanta, BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary and Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary.

Kokrajhar Planetarium and Science Centre has been set up under Popularisation of Science by the Department of Science and Technology. The foundation stone of the planetarium was laid by then chief minister Tarun Gogoi on February 17, 2011.

On the other hand, the civil construction of two other planetariums at Nalbari and North Lakhimpur is almost complete. Six more new planetariums have been planned to be set up at Majuli, Kaliabor, Amingaon, Bongaigaon, Diphu and Silchar.
