Coronavirus: Assam biker couple gives first-hand account from Cambodia

GUWAHATI: Biswajit Bharali and Monalisa Sonowal from Assam’s Dibrugarh district embarked on a world tour with their Royal Enfield Motorcycle in last year. Biswajit and Monalisa kicked off their journey from Guwahati on October 14, 2019. Bharali also resigned from his government job just to satisfy his thirst for travel.

After travelling several countries, the journey of the couple has come to a pause in Cambodia because of Coronavirus outbreak.

According to a report by Aljazeera, Cambodia has 93 Coronavirus positive cases till today. Biswajit who is staying at a hotel with his wife gives a first-hand account of their experiences in the country.

“When Covid-10 case was first  found in China in December, 2019 we were exploring Laos. Then we visited Vietnam and then Cambodia. Had witnessed that government of this countries are very active, though they are very poor compared to India,” said Biswajit Bharali.

“The government has cleaned all the roads, public place and transport system. There is no panic among the people here. On the other hand, the government in Cambodia or many other countries keep record systematically of the tourists. So they face less problems in finding out the tourists and take preventive measures,” he added.

Bharali also stated that they had travelled Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand so far in their Royal Enfield bike.

“We will resume our journey once the situation becomes normal,” the couple stated.
