Coronavirus: Assam family provides  shelter to stranded New Zealand man

GUWAHATI: Several cases of foreign tourists starving and sleeping rough have come up in the past few days in India as hotels and restaurants turned away foreign tourists over fears of Coronavirus disease.
 
A New Zealand man, identified as Giovanni arrived in Guwahati 10-days-back. He had a hard time finding accommodation in Guwahati as he was rejected rooms in hotels due to the Coronavirus  fear among the local people.


As per All India Radio report, the tourist tried to find a hotel in Guwahati, but was rejected by all the establishments. But luckily, Giovanni met Dipak Sarma who took him to his home and offered him a place to stay. Sharma is a resident of Guwahati and a  banker by profession.
 
Meanwhile, authorities have conducted all necessary tests and it showed negative results.
 
As India’s COVID-19 cases rise swiftly, so is panic and fear among locals.
