GUWAHATI: The Assam Government has sent a last warning to Tablighi Jamaat leaders of the state to provide the full list of the people who had attended the religious event at Nizamuddin Markaz which has become the hospot of Coronavirus cases in Assam as well as rest of the country.

“My last humble request to the state and district ‘Aamirs’ of Jamaat to provide the list of the people who had attended the Tablighi Jammat.  We are not getting the expected cooperation from them,” said Assam health and finance minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday in Guwahati.

“Just for the one patient in Guwahati, we had to collect 111 samples. If 812 people went to Nizamuddin Markaz, you can’t imagine how many samples we have to collect,” Dr. Sarma added.

On the other hand, minister Sarma asked the people not to believe in any rumours related to food and other facilities provided to the Coronavirus patients as they are getting the best food and other services.

“I humbly request all of you not to believe in such rumours. You can get regular updates on their food and kind of treatment from the Twitter handles of NHM, Assam and minister Pijush Hazarika. The patients are also being provided with a COVID-19 mobile phones at MMCH to contact their families and the doctors,” Sarma said.
