Cricket fever grips Assam: 27 thousand tickets for Ind-Sri Lanka match sold out

Guwahati: Cricket lovers in the state are excited for the first of the three T20Is between India and Sri Lanka to be held at Barsapara stadium on January 5.

According to Assam Cricket Association General Secretary Debajit Saikia, 27 thousand tickets have already been sold out for the much-awaited match.

All the tickets of Rs. 300 for the students at concessional rates and Rs. 1500 were sold out right after the few hours of beginning of the sale. Only few tickets of Rs. 5500, 2200 and and 2750 tiers are available for the cricket lovers.

On the other hand, according to sources sale of Rs. 4400 and 3850 tickets is not satisfactory this time.

Meanwhile, addressing a joint press meet today, Assam Cricket Association and Assam police briefed about the preparations for the upcoming match.

“This match is a curtain raiser for the IPL matches which are going to be held in the month of April. This opportunity is very crucial for Assam, for the association as well as for the players and general sports loving people,” said ACA General Secretary Debajit Saikia.

Saikia also announced introduction of special entertainment facilities during the match. For the first time in T20 matches, like IPL there will be an entertainment show during this match.

Meanwhile, Guwahati Police Commissioner Munna Prasad Gupta said that all necessary steps have been taken to ensure that people can enjoy the match without any problem.
