GUWAHATI: Ahead of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections scheduled to be held on April 4, Assam Police recovered a huge cache of illegal arms and ammunition from Bandarguri area of Udalguri district today.
Acting on a tip-off Udalguri Police recovered an AK-57 rifle along with magazines, 12 rounds of live bullets, a rocket launcher, 40 grenades, and 111 detonators.
Director General of Assam Police Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta stated that the operations against illegal arms would be continued to ensure law and order in Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) where the poll fever was ruling the air.
He also congratulated the team of police for the successful operation.
“I congratulate our capable foot soldiers in service of Mother India,” Mahanta stated on a Facebook post.
