Kalidas Award to Nrityacharya Jatin Goswami

GUWAHATI: Sattriya dance exponent Jatin Goswami has been selected for National Kalidas Award 2017 by Madhya Pradesh government.

Nritacharya Goswami has been selected for the award for his remarkable contribution towards the promotion of the classical dance form.

The award will be presented at Khajuraho Dance Festival to be held on February 20. The award carries cash rupees 2 lakh.

The award instituted in 1980 is conferred in the fields of Classical Music, Classical Dance, Theatre and Plastic Arts.

Padmashree Award winner Goswami was also conferred with the prestigious Akademi Ratna by the Sangeet Natak Akademi.

He is the third person from Assam after Dr. Maheswar Neog and Dr. Bhupen Hazarika to be presented with the Akademi Ratna.

Meanwhile, Goswami expressed his happiness over getting the kalidas Award.

“I will try my best to promote Sattriya dance form of Assam,” Goswami said.
