GUWAHATI: On the 2nd day of 21-day nationwide lockdown to prevent the spread of Coronavirus, Assam Police had to use baton in many parts of the state to enforce rules.

Police had to resort to caning as many people ventured out to the streets without any valid reason. Police acted tough against the violators at Jonai, Gohpur, Baithalangso, Kaziranga and many parts of Assam.

Law enforcers had to beat-up the violators to ensure a complete lockdown as a preventive measure against the spread of deadly Coronavirus. The stringent action from Assam Police came as many people had failed to obey the lockdown rules despite extensive publicity and prior appeals.

Meanwhile, Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma also instructed the law enforcers to take stern action against the violators.
