Most Pvt. Schools in Guwahati to remain closed on Wednesday

GUWAHATI: Most of the private schools in Guwahati will remain closed tomorrow (Wednesday) in the wake of the general strike called by multiple trade unions. Though schools are not affected by the shutdown but many private schools have decided to remain closed for the day tomorrow to avoid unnecessary harassment.

As per sources, private schools such as Delhi Public School (DPS), Maria’s Public School, Sanskriti The Gurukul, Sarala Birla Gyan Jyoti are among the major private schools that have declared a holiday in view of tomorrow’s general strike.

Parents and guardians of students have received messages from schools informing them that the institutions will be closed on Wednesday.

The central trade unions have called for the general strike or ‘Bharat Bandh’ against “anti-labour policies” of the government.

The trade unions that will take part in the strike include All India United Trade Union Centre (AIUTUC), Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), Hind Mazdoor Sabha (HMS), Self-Employed Women’s Association (SEWA), All India Central Council of Trade Unions (AICCTU), Labour Progressive Federation (LPF), United Trade Union Congress (UTUC), Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) and Trade Union Coordination Centre (TUCC).
