Guwahati: Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad staged its protest against Dhing MLA Aminul Islam today at Puraigudam under Nagaon district. The organisation burnt the effigy of the AIUDF legislator Aminul Islam for his controversial remarks against the Ahom community of Assam.
Addressing a public meting at Moirabari, Islam said that Ahoms are not indigenous people of the state and termed them as foreigners.
Slamming Aminul Islam’s remarks, a leader of the AJYCP said, “We condemn his communal remarks. He should seek apology to the people of Assam.”
“Aminul Islam should quit as an MLA for such kind of irresponsible comments,” said another member of the organisation.
