News Live Impact: Guwahati Railway Station steps up COVID-19 screening measures

GUWAHATI: After a ground report by News Live on Monday revealed lack of adequate measures to screen passengers for Coronavirus at the Guwahati Railway Station, check-up camps have been set up inside the Railway station premises today. The medical teams are continuously screening all passengers who are entering and leaving the Guwahati Railway Station.

The team is also distributing leaflets and posters to educate people regarding the precaution they can take and also inform them about the symptoms of the Coronavirus disease.

Isolation ward has been set up at the Guwahati Railway Station to quarantine the suspected people. The authorities have also made arrangements to immediately shift the patients to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), if necessary.

“Everyone passing through Exit door are being screened at Guwahati Railway Station,” said an official. 

Meanwhile, the Central Railway and Western Railway have withdrawn curtains from AC coaches in order to prevent the spread of Coronavirus disease.

The Central Railway is also cleaning coach fittings such as grab handles, door handles, entry door handles, seat guard, snack trays, window glass that are frequently touched by passengers.
