No heed to government directives: People throng markets in Guwahati

PUBLISHED:

GUWAHATI: Amid threat of Coronavirus to public health, government has requested the people to maintain social distance to prevent the spread of deadly disease. However many citizens in Guwahati are paying no heed to the government’s directives despite the growing Coronavirus concerns.

After Janta Curfew was relaxed at 8 AM people in large number gathered at marketplaces of the city. Mass gatherings have been seen in Fancy Bazar, Ganeshguri and several other areas of Guwahati. Risking their health, many people did not care about maintaining gap of minimum one meter at the crowded markets.

On the other hand, residents of a village in Nagarbera area under Kamrup district organised Asta Prahar Yajna. The lack of awareness among the vast majority of people about the deadly disease has emerged as a major cause of grave concerns.
