Pulwama Attack Anniversary: Assam’s CRPF Jawan Maneswar Basumatary’s statue unveiled

GUWAHATI: On the occasion of first anniversary of Pulwama terror attack, a statue of Assam’s martyred CRPF Jawan Maneswar Basumatary was unveiled today at his village in Tamulpur under Baksa district. The statue was unveiled by Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary.

Paying his tribute to the martyred jawan, Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary said, “Maneswary Basumatary made us proud by sacrificing his life for the country.”

Family members, local people and CRPF officials paid their homage to Basumatary who was killed in Pulwama terror attack along with 39 other CRPF personnel on February 14, 2019. The CRPF jawan is being remembered today with Bathou rituals at Kolbari village.  

 “Our father was killed on this day. We feel proud of him because he made supreme sacrifice for the nation,” said daughter of Maneswar Basumatary.
